Random Thoughts During The Economic Armageddon

A daily ritual in place for years now is fetching the latest deliveries from the US post office and taking them to a receptacle set up in the garage. As I sift through them, a good percentage — 95% or higher — go directly into the trash: sales pitches I never asked for nor consented to receive; coupons and catalogs pleading for me to buy at a special discounted, introductory price, things I don’t need or want…The only communications I save are the expected ones (utility bills) or the dreaded ones (letters — usually of a threatening nature — from a government agency).

In a moment of epiphany it came to me that — like the post office and aforementioned government agencies — the majority of communications I receive on my “smartphone” are from telemarketers that, since the last-but-one administration, completely ignore with impunity the government’s Do-Not-Call registry to stop bothering me. So the moral is everything government — whether local, state or federal — does, burdens and diminishes my quality of life. Leading me to wonder aloud: what the hell good is government? Government is the agent of tyranny, slavery and poverty. The more government we get, the less we have: less freedom, less money, less happiness. Government only exists to be a “safety net” for the destitute and impoverished millions that its policy failures have created over the years. As I scan this post, the large initial letters in the first two paragraphs are “AI”, which — when I think more about it — also stand for “Artificial Intelligence”, a technology that could easily replace the human personnel manning these government posts (for an average 30% more than they would get paid for the same position in the private sector) and probably do a far superior job.
